ROLE OF NAMPAB

  • Focus on National issues; densification; mixed land-use:  The Board should not get caught up by the detail of an application, but should focus on the purpose of the development.  Consistency and transparency should be the bottom-line when considering applications.
  • The Board must familiarize themselves with the conditions in local conditions
  • NAMPAB can provide conditional approval

  • Community - When applications are considered, one should also look into the influence the resolution will have on the community.

  • Sustainability – The sustainability criterion looking at integrating Social, Environmental and Economic sustainability must guide all decision making.
  • Circulate the Principles for the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • International best practice – The Board must consider international best practice in its decision making.
  • Habitat III Conference at the end of the year – members must familiarize themselves with the new urban agenda
